Level 4 Award in IQA – Internal Quality Assurance

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training qualification is a nationally-accredited qualification for those who already experienced in teaching and assessment. Upon completion, learners are officially qualified to oversee and manage the internal quality of assessment within their organisation.

Learners are provided with tuition and resources to complete a series of assignments, in order to demonstrate their knowledge of the key principles and commonly-used best practices of internal quality assurance.

Additionally, learners are set a number of practical tasks, in which they’re assessed on their ability to manage other assessors within their organisation, including providing constructive feedback within standardised reporting systems, organising and leading standardisation meetings, and creating bespoke development plans for individual assessors, where appropriate.

On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

• Be able to use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in accordance with internal and external requirements
• understand the context and principles of internal quality assurance
• understand how to plan the internal quality assurance of assessment
• understand techniques and criteria for monitoring the quality of assessment internally
• understand how to internally maintain and improve the quality of assessment
• understand how to manage information relevant to the internal quality assurance of assessment
• understand the legal and good practice requirements for the internal quality assurance of assessment
• be able to plan the internal quality assurance of assessment
• be able to internally evaluate the quality of assessment
• be able to internally maintain and improve the quality of assessment
• be able to manage information relevant to the internal quality assurance of assessment
• be able to maintain legal and good practice requirements when internally monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment

• Learners must be aged 19+.
• Ideally, learners will hold a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, or equivalent (formally known as A1 assessor’s course or D32 assessor’s qualification).
• Be working in a role in which they have opportunities to assess the quality of assessment by other assessors within their organisation.

To show sufficient understanding of all learning objectives, learners must:

• Complete a series of written theory-based assignments.
• Complete a series of practical tasks, during which they demonstrate their ability to analyse the quality of assessment from other assessors within their organisation.

Upon completion of their qualification, learners receive both digital and hard copies of their nationally-accredited qualification, at no additional cost.
